Reformer

Pilates

Reformer PIlates is all the rage - and for good reason. These glidey, empowering machines bring the burn while still allowing for the choreographed goodness we all know and love.

Invented by joseph pilates, The reformer is a bed-like frame with a flat platform [carriage] that slides back and forth on wheels using your own body weight and strength. the carriage is attached to one end of the reformer by a set of springs which allow for adjustable resistance.

I encourage new clients to try a Pilates mat class first to learn the fundamentals before hopping on the reformer machine, but you do you!

Mat Pilates

The OG pilates format. people shy away from mat because they think its: a) boring, B) easy or C) it doesn’t suit their body.

with CONSCIOUS, intentional class programming, a) Is avoided.

if you’re curling into your strong c-curve shape and smashing out ‘the 100’ with legs long, lemme tell you b) is most certainly not the case.

if C) wrist, knee, or back pain, or a general mobility issue has drawn you to the support and gentle resistance of the reformer, understandable and great idea. but know that it is possible to curate a supportive mat class for almost any body if access to a reformer is not feasible or possible.
